Our Story
WELCOME TO LAKIER ATELIER
At Lakier Atelier, every piece begins with a single idea — that wood, when worked with precision and intention, can carry meaning that lasts a lifetime.
Our Story
Lakier Atelier is a design and carving studio dedicated to creating premium wood pieces from solid hardwoods. Combining the precision of modern CNC technology with the timeless tradition of hand-finishing, we specialize in intricate 3D relief work, custom commissions, and beautifully detailed Judaica and Hebrew text pieces.
Every piece is designed with care, carved with technical accuracy, and finished by hand to a standard we are proud to put our name on.
The Philosophy
An atelier is traditionally a workshop where an artist or craftsman creates. For us, Lakier Atelier represents the intersection of digital craftsmanship and organic beauty. We believe in taking natural, unpredictable hardwoods—oak, walnut, maple, and cherry—and channeling their unique grain into pieces made for life's most meaningful occasions. Because no two pieces of wood are identical, no two pieces that leave our shop are ever exactly alike.
Meet the Maker
Moshe Tzvi — Founder & Craftsman
What started as a hobby—learning the machinery, mastering the software, and understanding how a digital toolpath translates into a physical, textured piece of wood—slowly grew into a deep craft, and eventually, a calling.
"Every technique I use, I earned. I didn't learn from a master or train in a traditional workshop. I taught myself through late nights, ruined boards, and hard-won breakthroughs."
More about Moshe Tzvi:
I understand exactly what it takes to get a piece right, and I won't settle for anything less. The technical precision of CNC work is what drives me—the challenge of making a machine and a natural material align so perfectly that it makes someone stop and ask, "How did they do that?" That exact moment of wonder is why Lakier Atelier exists.
When I am not in the shop troubleshooting toolpaths or hand-sanding a new carving, you can usually find me spending time with family. I live and work in Southfield, Michigan.
Made for Moments That Matter
We don't believe in mass-produced décor. Many of our pieces are commissioned for life’s most significant milestones—weddings, anniversaries, bar mitzvahs, new homes, and treasured gifts. When you order from Lakier Atelier, you are investing in a handcrafted heirloom made with patience, skill, and genuine pride in the work.
Thank you for being here. I hope something in our collection speaks to you.
